Why does iOS 13 update as much as bugs? This is the answer of former Apple engineer
After just over a week of launch, on iOS 13 has appeared about 30 large and small errors, including a number of serious errors affecting the hardware. Even some unresolved cases force Apple Store to change a new device for users. MacOS software updates also avoid some nasty bugs.
To fix bugs for iOS 13, Apple had to release up to 4 updates but the error still exists.
This makes many iFan ask, why when releasing new operating systems, the technology giant has so many difficulties in a row?
David Shayer, a software engineer who worked 18 years at Apple recently revealed the reasons for the iOS 13 update.
The first reason is that Apple's error-correction process only prioritizes newly discovered bugs. When an error is detected, it must be fixed immediately. But if no one fixes it and the bug already exists in an earlier version, it will be marked as an old bug. They may not be assigned to anyone for repair. It is this bureaucratic workflow that causes some errors to persist for a long time, such as sharing photos on iCloud or syncing contacts.
Apple engineers are under great pressure to increase the number of features on each newly released operating system version. With tens of millions of lines of code on the current iOS operating system, ensuring all devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods or HomePod) are in sync and all applications must handle multiple threads simultaneously. Working together is extremely difficult.
Some other reasons given by former Apple software engineer are too close update schedule, lack of automatic error control tools, error messages from users who lack information .
All of these factors cause Apple's iOS to keep crashing.
David Shayer also shared that CEO Tim Cook and Apple's leadership certainly realized the problem was gradually serious, even causing, but also greatly affecting the company's image. So Apple is looking to solve the problem.
