Google's quantum supercomputer can solve the 'impossible' calculation in just 200 seconds
Google announced the successful design of a quantum computer capable of solving the calculation that IBM Summit supercomputer takes 10,000 years to calculate, in just 200 minutes.
On October 23, Google announced the successful design of a quantum computer capable of solving the calculation that the fastest supercomputer in the world today (IBM Summit supercomputer) needs 10,000 years to calculate, within 200 seconds. This is a breakthrough that shows Google has achieved quantum superiority.
The scientific report of this achievement is published in the journal Nature. This report signals the strong rise of quantum computers in the future. These quantum computers are much more capable of storing and processing information than classical computers, specifically a supercomputer.
The difference that makes quantum supercomputers much faster to handle calculations than conventional supercomputers is the data description transistor. While conventional computers use data as either 1 or 0 at a time, quantum computers can use the data in any combination of 0 and 1 using quantum bits. (quantum bit or qubit).
According to Sciencenews, using only a Sycamore chip of 53 qubits, the researchers solved calculations that ordinary computers could not handle. To keep the chip active and maintain a qubit, it needs to be placed in an extremely low temperature chamber, about -273,135 degrees Celsius. According to Google, this chip only needs 200 seconds to perform a calculation. that the most powerful supercomputer in the world now takes 10,000 years.
