Remove unnecessary System Preferences icons in Mac
The following article explains how to clean up the Mac OS X Lion OS System Preferences application by hiding icons that you rarely use.
System Preferences is an integrated application in the Mac OS, where all the system options are gathered - so the application is a bit messy and needs to be cleaned up.
In the System Preferences application (accessible from the Dock or Applications folder), select the View menu and select Customize . Or you can click and hold the Show All key on the System Preferences title, and then select Customize at the bottom at the drop down menu. In both cases, you will see all the icons in Systems Preferences appear in the checkbox next to it.
If there are any unnecessary options, uncheck them. For example, if you don't need the MobileMe or Parental Controls option, uncheck them and click the Done button in the title bar (or uncheck Customize from the View menu).
However, if you need to reuse these options later, how to do it? Don't worry, the hidden options appear in both the View menu and the Show All menu will reappear when you press and hold the key. To unhide a permanent option, go back to Customize mode and select the check box for that option before clicking the Done button.
