Cray is about to release AI-based supercomputers
Cray computer maker Cray is developing two new systems, the CS-Storm 500GT and 500NX , both of which aim to meet customer demand for infrastructure using artificial intelligence (AI). Both systems are designed to work with Nvidia's Tesla GPU but with different capabilities and features.
Both of their RAM memory is very terrible. CS-Storm 500GT supports up to 2TB DDR4 (16x128 DIMM) while 500NX supports up to 3TB DDR4 (24x128GB DIMM). Regarding microprocessors, 500GT uses two Intel Xeon Skylake and 500NX processors using Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4.
Fred Kohout, Cray's vice president of product and marketing, said:
Demand for customers with AI-using infrastructure is growing faster. The introduction of our new CS-Storm systems will help bring customers options to deal with many deep learning and machine learning activities on a large scale thanks to the power of supercomputers. that Cray produced. The astounding growth in data size, along with the need to solve problems faster in AI, has shown the need for larger-scale infrastructure. "

Owning a high position in the TOP500 supercomputing company, Cray is still inferior to industry competitors from China, which are also developing very fast, parallel with scientific and technological advances. in China. As more and more people are interested in AI, Cray has a potential new market to exploit.
