Learn about Supercut: The app that brings Netflix to Vision Pro with 4K and Dolby Atmos support
The VisionOS App Store has a great selection of interesting apps for Apple Vision Pro users. However, there are still some major companies absent from the list, one of the most prominent being Netflix. Last year, Netflix said it had no plans to develop an app specifically for Apple Vision Pro. Apple's mixed reality headset is undeniably a great way to watch shows and movies. So the fact that Netflix isn't coming to Vision Pro is a huge disappointment. But now everything has changed, thanks to an app.
Christian Privitelli, a 19-year-old Australian developer, created Supercut, the application that helped bring Netflix to Vision Pro. Supercut is a native VisionOS app that brings Netflix and Amazon Prime Video streaming to Apple's Space PC.
Supercut may not be the best way to enjoy Netflix on the Vision Pro, but it's the only way to experience Netflix's multichannel audio, at least for now. The app provides essential playback controls, like playback speed, audio output, subtitles, and the freedom to fast forward or go back a few seconds. Besides, you can easily switch between different user profiles. Additionally, Supercut enables 4K streaming with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support.
In an interview, Christian Privitelli told The Verge that he is introducing Netflix in web view. This is the same feature used by Christian Selig's Juno for YouTube app.
'It's basically just overlaying the native UI on top of the website, then modifying the website in a way that makes it feel more friendly on VisionOS.'- Christian Privitelli
The app developer also posted on X that he will soon launch the updated version 1.2 of Supercut. He added that he has also received some requests for Hulu and Peacock. However, both appear to be a challenge as Hulu is integrated into Disney Plus in the US and Peacock is not available in Australia. However, the developer plans to integrate Plex in the future.
The Supercut app is definitely good news for Vision Pro users who are subscribed to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This app is available on the VisionOS App Store for $4.99. Download Supercut and enjoy Hi-Fi spatial Netflix experience on your Vision Pro!
