I have switched from Chrome to Opera and will never regret it
In my opinion, how long the browser does not affect your browsing capabilities, because there is no bad browser, only a browser is not good enough. Due to business needs, my computer has all kinds of browsers installed on my computer. However, if I don't have the burden of work that makes me use many different browsers, I will definitely be a loyal fan of Opera. Despite using Chrome for eight months, I recently switched to using Opera, and here are the reasons why I changed.

1. Opera is faster and more responsive
Many users see Chrome as the gold standard for browser performance. I won't deny that: Chrome is definitely a fast browser. However, after using the browser on different devices - a 4-year-old laptop, a 2-year-old PC, a brand-new iMac and a high-end Chromebook, Chrome really disappoints me. .
I know all the benchmarks in the browser. In fact, last year, I compared benchmarks for Chrome and Opera, and then I realized that Chrome works better than Opera in etStream, Kraken, RoboHornet and HTML5 Standard tests. However, if used daily, Opera feels faster, smoother and more responsive than Chrome.
Perhaps this proves that "laboratory conditions" are not enough to evaluate the browser performance but other invisible factors affect its speed and acumen. But that doesn't matter, Opera is faster than most important to me.

2. Opera supports Chrome extensions
Many users are still stuck in the Chrome browser, which is one of the main reasons related to this browser's list of active extensions, which are some of the important utilities that users feel. find it impossible to live without them.
However, that is no longer a problem. With the Download Chrome Extension utility, you can directly install any Chrome utility on Opera. This is really very handy. With this utility, you just need to browse the Chrome Web Store as usual, find the utility and click Add to Opera .
3. Opera uses less CPU and saves battery
Overall, Chrome consumes a lot of CPU. This causes problems with older computers because it takes up the CPU of other programs, making system performance slower. Also, this is a big problem for laptops because Chrome uses a lot of CPUs, which means it also consumes battery faster.
This is why you should avoid using Chrome on the MacBook. Meanwhile, Opera offers double benefits of Chrome: it not only uses less CPU when used regularly, but also has a Power Saver mode that helps extend battery life.
During operation, this mode reduces background operations, pauses unused extensions, reduces the frame rate of the browser, pauses browser effects and optimizes JavaScript programming time. . Opera claims that it can extend battery life by up to 50% compared to Chrome.
4. Opera uses less bandwidth
Opera not only uses less machine resources and saves battery power than Chrome, but it also minimizes bandwidth usage through Turbo Mode. If your Internet activity is restricted by ISP data, this feature can be extremely helpful and even save you money.
When enabling Turbo Mode, your Internet traffic is routed through Opera servers to be compressed before it reaches the user. Note that this mode only works on unencrypted pages, so HTTPS sites will not be compressed.
5. Opera has its own unique experience
Like Chrome, Opera comes from the Chromium browser. Other examples of Chromeium-based browsers are Brave, Comodo Dragon, Slimjet, Torch and Vivaldi. However, most of these browsers feel like "alternatives to Chrome", while Opera has many unique features.
Mostly because Opera has some unique features. Mouse gestures allow browser control without a keyboard. RSS integration allows users to update the latest news. The music player displayed in a pop-up format allows users to watch any online video while browsing the web. Extensions can be pinned to the side bar.
However, what I like about Opera is the support for custom shortcuts. You can change the Keypress for dozens of different browser activities, you can also assign multiple shortcuts for each activity. Meanwhile, Chrome can only do this with extensions and not even completed.
6. Opera owns free integrated VPN technology
Opera made a fever when it announced that the browser integrates VPN in 2016 - a free and unlimited VPN. This is in stark contrast to other free VPN services.
Why should we care about this? Because it increases your privacy and security when browsing the web. However, free VPN has always had drawbacks and Opera's VPN is no exception. If you don't want to pay for VPN, Opera's free VPN is also a bad choice. These are the benefits it will bring:
- Hide IP address so you won't be monitored.
- Ignore blocked sites and restrict access areas.
- Protect yourself from Sniffer when using public Wifi.
I have also used a VPN version (I recommend ExpressVPN), but if I don't use ExpressVPN, I will also choose Opera browser with free VPN built-in.
7. Opera is not Google
In terms of "ethics" of browsers, Opera has a greater reputation than Google, especially when it comes to user privacy.
Opera's integrated ad blocking feature is a good example. Knowing the needs of users who want to experience reputable and non-intrusive websites, Opera has implemented ad blockers that are suitable for machine resources, quickly and efficiently. Overall, Opera seems to have more respect for users than Google.

What is missing in Opera
Going back to Opera, I was not tempted or tempted to go back to using Chrome. There is a Chrome feature that keeps me attached - Chrome user profile - but I can live without it. Benefits that Opera brings me more like.
Note that I wrote this article from the perspective of Windows users, but Mac users should also consider switching from Chrome to Opera.
