1. Add Subtitles to videos when watching on Windows Media Player
One thing that users do not know is that Windows Media Player software itself also supports playing videos with subtitles.
If your computer does not already have Windows Media Player, download Windows Media Player to your computer and install it here.

After having 2 components including video file (in .AVI format) and 1 Subtitles file (usually in .SRT format). We put them together and contain them in a separate folder, then name these two files the same, only different extensions.
Now open the video file to Windows Media Player by right-clicking on it and selecting Play with Windows Media Player.
On the Windows Media Player interface , right-click it and select Play> Lyrics, captions, and subtitles> On if available.
Next, install the DirectVobSub add-on for Windows Media Player to optimize the display of Subtitles. After installing, go to the folder containing the video files and Subtitles earlier, right-click on the Subtitles file and change '.srt' to '.sub'.
It's done now, turn off and re-open the video with Windows Media Player to enjoy it.
If you want faster and more convenient, you can use other professional video players such as VLC Player or KMPlayer .
