How to transfer ChatGPT and Claude conversations to Gemini
If you're tired of using ChatGPT , Claude , or any other AI chatbot and want to transfer your conversations and data to another app, you previously had to manually transfer the information or find other ways to do it. However, Google is now making it incredibly easy to import conversations and even data from other AI platforms into Gemini, and you can start doing so today.
Gemini makes importing your conversations easy.
This is just one part of Google 's ongoing updates for Gemini, including the new Gemini Live model that launched this week. According to a new support document for this functionality, it currently appears to only support ChatGPT and Claude, at least if you want to transfer your conversations. Google says you need to sign in with a personal Google account, as work, school, and supervised Google accounts won't work with this feature at the moment. Finally, you need to be 18 or older and not reside in the EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
To begin, you can export chat data from ChatGPT or Claude using the following steps.
ChatGPT:
- Click on your username in the bottom left corner of the page.
- Click on Settings > Data Control .
- Next to Export data , click Export > Confirm export .
Claude:
- Click on your username in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Click on Settings > Privacy .
- Then click Export data next to the Export data option .
- Select the range of data you want to export and click Export .
- Claude will then send you a download link to the email address you registered with your account.
Then, all you need to do is take the file you received from the other platform, go to Settings & Help > Import storage to Gemini , click Import storage to Gemini , and follow the instructions.
You can also import AI memory from chatbots.
Gemini even provides prompts.
Another part of this equation, and something that will make using imported conversations easier and more efficient, is that Gemini now also lets you import memory from your other AI platforms. To do this, you need to follow a few quick steps and use the prompt that Google provides.
To import storage into Gemini, open the app's website and click Settings & Help > Import storage into Gemini .
Next, copy the prompt provided by Gemini Apps (log in if prompted), then access the AI platform from which you want to copy the memory and paste the prompt into a new chat.
After the other platform responds, copy that information and return to the Gemini app, paste the reply into the designated text field on the page, and then click Add . This will import the data into Gemini, and you will be able to start using the data in a new chat that Gemini creates.
The ability to transfer data and conversations from other AI platforms to Gemini will make it easier to switch to using Gemini as your primary AI system, especially since Gemini is now much more useful than it used to be. Some platforms may be more powerful in handling certain aspects of a request, so being able to easily transfer that information from ChatGPT or Claude directly into Gemini will also make connecting your workflow easier, which will be great for those who want to make Gemini their ultimate virtual assistant.
If you've recently switched to an Android phone, or just switched from Google Assistant to Gemini, the ability to connect all your other AI information to Gemini is a big advantage. Of course, you also always have the option of abandoning all three chatbots and using the versatile Fluent virtual assistant , which integrates all three without requiring a subscription. At least now you have more options.
