How to remove Magisk and unroot Android phones
One of the benefits of running Magisk Manager on rooted Android smartphones is that Magisk can hide root access from specific applications. This is useful if the application does not boot because it detects that you messed up your device. However, some applications, like Pokemon GO, now undergo special testing by Magisk when running. This will undermine one of the best features of the software.
Since there are not many alternatives to Magisk and no software can perform all the same functions as Magisk, your only real option is to remove the Magisk (and root access) from the device. . Thankfully, there are a few methods you can try. Let's find out through the following article.
How to remove Magisk and unroot Android phones

- Delete root files manually
- Try using SuperSU
- Restore firmware
Uninstall Magisk easily
The first and easiest way to remove Magisk from your Android device is to simply uninstall it from the Magisk manager application.
Make sure you are connected to the Internet, then open Magisk manager from the application screen. Click the 'Uninstall' button at the bottom of the main screen.
You will be greeted with the option ' Restore stock ', ' Complete uninstall ' or cancel the process. To delete Magisk and all modules, click "Complete uninstall".
After that, Magisk Manager will download and run the necessary scripts to remove Magisk from your phone and restore the device firmware. Wait for the completion process, you have successfully removed Magisk!
Alternative: MagR TWRP uninstall utility
Similarly, there is a Magisk Uninstaller utility , available from XDA development forums, that will perform the same task as above. It is also a great option for those who cannot access the Internet on their device for any reason.
To run the gadget, you first need to download the software directly on your phone or download it to another device, such as your desktop or laptop computer, and then transfer the file to your phone in a way handmade. After that, boot the phone to restore custom like TWRP and open the compressed file to install. The whole process can be quite complicated, but Magisk's official website has detailed instructions on how to mount and run the uninstallation process in TWRP. Please refer to the article How to remove the Magisk module using TWRP Recovery for more details.
How to remove root privileges on the device
When uninstalling Magisk, the next step is to undo the root administration. The good news is that there are many ways to do this, and all of them are extremely simple to implement.
Delete root files manually
Using a file manager - the file manager - with root access (such as MiXplorer or ES File Explorer ), you can manually delete the root files.
First, you'll need to find and delete files labeled 'busybox' and 'su', both of which are stored in the phone's main drive. They will be placed in one of the following two directories: 'System' > 'bin' or 'System' > 'xbin'.
When you have found 'busybox' and 'su', delete them.
The last file you need to delete is in 'System' > 'App'. Open that folder and delete 'superuser.apk'.
Close the file explorer and restart your device. After it has finished booting, you have successfully removed the root permissions from your device and the device will return to normal.
Try using SuperSU
Another method is to use the SuperSU application (download link: http://www.supersu.com/). This is probably the best way to restore your phone, if you don't like searching in the system files on your phone.
To remove root in this way, open the application. On the Settings tab , click 'Full unroot'. Then, just follow the on-screen prompts when needed and the rest will be handled by your application and phone. At the end of all, your phone will be unroot successful.
Restore firmware
The last method you can use to remove root is to install the latest official system update or reinstall the firmware for your device.
Downloading and installing the operating system on your smartphone, the latest update will usually delete the root files from the device, and that is a fairly easy process. However, it will require you to find and download the update file manually.
Similarly, you can simply undo root by reinstalling your phone's firmware. This method will be different on each device, since all phones have different firmware and will require separate steps to complete the installation process. However, searching on the Internet like 'restoring firmware of [phone model]' may be useful and show you the right direction.
Good luck!
