This option adds AI actions to the right-click context menu in File Explorer on Windows for some applications like Photos and Paint. This allows you to directly remove image backgrounds, delete objects, etc. Below are instructions on how to enable and disable AI Actions in Windows 11.
What are AI actions?
AI actions are shortcuts in File Explorer that access existing AI features in Windows 11. You can access them by selecting a file, right-clicking it, and then choosing AI actions from the context menu. Currently, AI actions are only available for images (.jpg, .jpeg, and .png) and Microsoft 365 files.
Supported operations include:
- Search images with Bing: Search the web by image to find similar images, identify locations, plants, products, and more.
- Blur the background using the Photos app: This shortcut opens the photo in the Photos app and automatically blurs the background.
- Deleting objects using Photos: This action will open the Delete feature in Photos, allowing you to select and instantly remove unwanted elements.
- Remove background using Paint: Automatically remove the background of the selected image in Paint.
Additionally, you can use AI actions for Microsoft 365 on your documents:
- Summary: Create summaries using Copilot for .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .pdf, .xls, .xlsx, .txt, .rtf, and .loop files that you have stored in OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Create questions: Create question and answer lists with Copilot for .ppt, .pptx, xlsx, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf, .aspx, .htm, and .html files.
However, these options are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers with a Copilot plan. You must also be a member of the Microsoft 365 Insider program.

How to remove AI Actions from the right-click menu on Windows 11
If you were already annoyed by the streamlined right-click menu on Windows 11, the appearance of AI Actions can make the experience even more cumbersome, especially when you don't use these AI features. There are several ways to hide or completely remove AI Actions from the right-click menu. Here are the detailed instructions.
1. Delete AI Actions in Windows Settings
Step 1:
You access Settings on Windows , then in the left-hand menu bar select Apps .
Looking at the content next to it, we click on the Actions management option .
Step 2:
Now you'll see a list of AI-supported applications , such as Paint and Photos. Open each application to see the AI actions it offers.
To disable AI Actions , simply toggle the circular switch to the left next to the app you don't want to appear in the AI Actions menu.
After disabling all applications, the AI Actions menu still appears when right-clicking, but hovering the mouse over it displays the message "No actions available".
2. Completely delete AI Actions using ViVeTool
Open Command Prompt with administrator privileges , then type the command `scd /d` to navigate to the folder containing the extracted ViVeTool . For example, if you saved the ViVeTool folder at C:UsersOneDriveDocumentsViVeTool-v0.3.2, type the following command and press Enter.
cd /d C:UsersOneDriveDocumentsViVeTool-v0.3.2
Continue by entering the following command.
Vivetool.exe /enable /id:59193521
In this case, 59193521 is the identifier for the AI Actions feature, and enabling this feature will completely remove the menu item from the context menu in File Explorer and on the desktop.
You can reactivate it using the command below.
vivetool.exe /disable /id:59193521
3. Remove AI Actions using RemoveWindowsAI
You select the AI actions you want to remove from your computer and then click Apply to save the changes.
