How to Clean Silicone Phone Cases
Clean the case monthly
Remove the case from the phone to clean it. You must remove the silicone phone case before general cleaning. Gently stretch one corner of the case to begin removing it from the phone. Continue lifting the corners of the silicone case until you can remove the device completely.
Avoid pulling the silicone cover so hard that you damage or tear it.
Add 1-2 drops of dishwashing liquid to 1 cup (240 ml) of warm water. Warm soapy water is the most effective cleaning solution for your silicone phone case. Add dish soap to a cup of still warm water to ensure the soap is completely dissolved. Stir the mixture until it foams slightly.
Dip a clean toothbrush into the soapy water mixture and scrub the case clean. Soak a clean toothbrush in the soap mixture for 1-2 minutes, then use the brush to clean the silicone case. Rub the case in small circular motions. Focus on smudges or stains to get the phone case as clean as possible.
Dip the toothbrush back into the soapy water every few seconds to ensure hygiene.
Sprinkle a pinch of baking soda on top of stains or stubborn stains. Baking soda can help remove stubborn build-ups on your phone's case, such as oil, dirt, or debris. Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda directly onto the dirty area. Continue scrubbing the case with a toothbrush.
Rinse the case in water. Once you're done scrubbing, rinse the soapy mixture off your phone in the sink. Use warm water instead of hot or cold water. Gently scrub the case while washing to ensure there is no soap left on it.
Let the case dry completely before inserting the phone. Putting your phone back in while the case is still damp can damage your phone and allow bacteria to build up inside the case. Use a paper towel to blot the case to remove as much water as possible. Then, leave it alone for about an hour to ensure the case is dry and usable.
If you don't have time, try drying your phone case with a hair dryer for a few seconds on the lowest heat setting.
Clean your case once a month to eliminate bacteria and stains. Using your cell phone every day means a constant transfer of oil and bacteria between you and the device. Keep germs and dust to a minimum by cleaning your phone case at least once a month, both inside and out. To remember to do this, set a monthly reminder or make a note on your calendar or diary.
Disinfect the case weekly
Remove your phone from its case to ensure all bacteria are removed. Disinfecting just the outside of the case will not be effective because bacteria can exist between the phone and the case. Always remove your phone to thoroughly clean the case. Make sure to focus on eliminating all bacteria both inside and outside the silicone case for best results.
Clean your case with a disinfectant wipe at least once a week. Use a disinfectant wipe to scrub the inside and outside surfaces of the case. Leave the case alone for a few minutes to dry. When you're sure the case is dry, put the phone back in.
This is also an effective way to quickly disinfect your phone case if exposed to bacteria.
Scrub your case with isopropyl alcohol to kill bacteria if you don't have wipes. Soak a cotton swab or cotton ball in alcohol. Apply alcohol-soaked cotton to both the inside and outside of the phone case. This will kill bacteria lurking on the case.
The rubbing alcohol will evaporate within seconds of application.
Insert the phone into the case when the case is dry. Make sure the case is no longer wet, as this could damage your phone. Wait a few more minutes to make sure the case is completely dry before putting it back on your phone.
Avoid using harsh detergents on the case. Strong, concentrated detergents can damage silicone items. Avoid using any harsh cleaning chemicals on your phone case. They may include:
Household cleaners
Windshield washer fluid
Detergents contain ammonia
Detergents contain hydrogen peroxide
Aerosol sprays (aerosols)
Types of solvents
