With PowerShell you only need one command to know if your computer has an SSD, HDD or both.

1. To get detailed information about the hard drive, you need to open PowerShell with admin rights. To do that, search for PowerShell, in the Start menu , right-click on the result and select the Run as Administrator option.

2. In the PowerShell window, enter:

 Get-PhysDisk 

Then press Enter to execute the command. This command scans and lists all hard drives on the system with lots of useful information such as serial number, 'health' status, size, etc. related to each physical drive.

3. As with the Defragment tool, if you see Media Type, you can see your hard drive type. If you have an SSD, Media Type will list it as SSD.

3. Use Speccy (third party software)

Speccy is a simple, free third-party tool that displays lots of information related to all system hardware like CPU, hard drive, motherboard, peripherals, network card, etc.

1. Download Speccy here. After downloading, install and open Speccy with the shortcut or Start menu.

2. After opening Speccy, select Storage on the left panel. On the control panel, right Speccy will list all hard drives. If there is an SSD in the system, Speccy will add the '(SSD) tag ' next to the hard drive name. As can be seen in the image below, SSD with this tag and HDD are not.
