AMD stopped producing 32-bit drivers

AMD has just confirmed they will stop releasing new drivers for 32-bit versions of Windows.

AMD has just confirmed it will stop releasing new drivers for 32-bit Windows versions, a step that NVIDIA has announced since earlier this year. The company also said it would not update existing 32-bit drivers, the latest support is version 18.9.3 released last year.

AMD said that users can continue to use 32-bit drivers as before, even if not updated, this advice is not for anything. They also said that they should switch to 64-bit, especially those who like to play games.

'AMD Radeon Software support for 32-bit Windows machines will switch to the old support mode - we will not support 32-bit Windows in the next driver releases. This change will help AMD take full advantage of its resources in developing new features, enhancing graphics card products for 64-bit Windows machines, 'AMD told Japanese website 4Gamer.

'Users can continue to use 32-bit drivers if desired. But anyone who wants to play games or get new features from Radeon Software should upgrade the machine to a 64-bit version of Windows.

AMD follows many companies, focusing on 64-bit Windows

The decision to completely focus on AMD's 64-bit drivers doesn't affect too many users because the number of 32-bit Windows users is quite small.Neowin reported that Steam's data shows that only about 2% of gamers play on 32-bit Windows machines, this number includes all operating system versions, not just Windows 10.

Obviously, switching to 64-bit Windows is something everyone should consider doing when more and more companies claim to support this OS only.
