Avast Antivirus stopped supporting Windows XP
Avast has just announced it will stop supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista when they release a new version for their antivirus software, which can only be supported on Windows 7 and newer OSs.
In a new statement on an official blog post, Avast said that by January 1, 2019, Avast Antivirus software on Windows XP and Windows Vista will no longer be updated, although they say the new virus data will still be released.
In other words, current versions of Avast will run on normal Windows XP but will not have new features unless you use Windows 7 and above.
Avast will also not provide technical support to Avast users on Windows XP, which means that errors or any other issues will not be fixed by Avast.
' We encourage Avast users to update their operating system to the latest version of Windows 10 - not only to continue to receive Avast's security updates, but also to minimize the risk of being compromised for your computer. ', they say.
More and more software stops supporting old OS
Although saying that the deadline is 1/1, it may be sooner to stop supporting Avast on Windows XP. According to TechDows, Avast forum moderator MartinZ revealed at the company's board meeting that the next update that Windows XP is no longer supported will be at the end of November.
'Introducing 64-bit versions in the next release, we will stop supporting Windows XP / Vista one month earlier than planned. The upcoming version at the end of November will no longer support Windows XP / Vista. '
The current version of Avast 18.7 can still be installed on Windows XP and Windows Vista, but from version 18.8, you must use Windows 7 or later to install this software.
