2,000-year-old olive oil factory discovered in Turkey

Archaeologists have unearthed a 2,000-year-old olive oil factory located in the ancient city of Tripolis in southwestern Turkey. According to Doğan News Agency, this particular relic was discovered in Denizli province of the Aegean, Turkey and the vestiges of this plant are expected to shed light on the history of rich olive cultivation once found in the local past.
Specifically, the vestige of this olive oil plant was discovered during excavation of an ancient Agora ruins. In it, the archaeological group discovered traces of oil grinder rooms about 3.5 meters in size, along with a 50 cm diameter stone used to grind olives.
Professor Bahadır Duman of Pamukkale University's Department of Archeology and Tripolis Excavation Commission said: " This factory, we have an estimate of 2,000 years old, shows us that in the past, the area This area is very prosperous with olive growing and processing industry . "
Besides, fifty stone columns were raised during the restoration of the Agora ruins, clearing the central area, the vestige of this olive oil factory was discovered.
Duman, who supervised the excavation, reported that excavation will continue in parallel with the restoration of the Agora ruins.
