Archaeologists have discovered the remains of a deserted medieval village on the shore of Carmarthenshire.
The newly discovered ruins in St Ishmael seem to represent a residential area dating back to the 12th century.
Eight ancient houses were partially exposed, but archaeologists were confused because of the lack of historical references around the area.

Geraint Lloyd, a member of the archaeological team, said the new site "is of national importance".
Under the dunes located on the edge of Carmarthen Bay, archaeological evidence shows that the village was abandoned over time rather than being wiped out by nature and the weather.
Lloyd said by monitoring this new archaeological site, they will gather more archaeological knowledge in the area.
Existing excavations are being investigated and analyzed by archaeological groups.
