Signs of ancient wildlife discovered in South Aswan

In an archaeological survey in the desert of Subeira Valley, south of Aswan, an Egyptian archaeological team from the National Archeology Department accidentally found many traces of stone carving from before Dynastic era.

Mostafa Waziri, General Secretary of the Archeology Council explained that these signs could be engraved on the days of the late Dynastic period, and found on sandstone.

The ancients described the army of famous animals at that time, such as hippopotamuses, bison and donkeys, as well as gazelle. In addition to these marks, archaeologists also discovered many traces of tools found scattered in some rocks.

Nasr Salama, President of Aswan and Nubia Antiquities, describes the newly discovered signs as "unique and rare" in Egypt. He also pointed out that similar signs had previously been rare at sites in Al-Qarta and Abu Tanqoura, north of Komombo town.

"These animal engravings have helped archaeologists determine the exact time of meeting the newly discovered animals in the Subeira Valley," Salama said. He added that the survey team also discovered 10 strange wall stickers in the area estimated to be about 15,000 years old.

Adel Kelani describes this discovery as important because it originates from the same period of signs found in caves in southern France, Spain and Italy, which affirms the artistic idea and civilization during that time spread from Africa to Europe, not vice versa.
