Why Use Chrome Instead of Safari on iPhone?

While Safari is the default browser on the iPhone and works well for most people, some individuals find Chrome better suited to their needs. From cross-device syncing and a simpler user interface to seamless integration with Google's suite of apps, here are some reasons why you should choose Chrome over Safari on your iPhone.

In addition to iPhones, many people also use Windows 11 PCs for work and the occasional Android tablet. Using Chrome on an iPhone allows you to sync your bookmarks, tabs, browsing history, and even saved payment information across all of these devices, which is incredibly convenient.

Safari, on the other hand, doesn't offer similar cross-platform syncing outside the Apple ecosystem. This limitation makes Chrome the more versatile option. It stores all your browsing information in one place, making for a smoother and more efficient experience.

Chrome's integration with Google Drive is another big advantage. For example, if you find a PDF online that you want to save, you can save it directly to Google Drive without leaving the browser. This not only streamlines the process, but also keeps your iPhone's storage from getting cluttered.

Likewise, tapping an address in Chrome opens it directly in Google Maps, which is our favorite navigation app. Overall, these subtle yet powerful integrations between Chrome and the Google ecosystem greatly improve the user's browsing experience.

3. Chrome's user interface is better

This may be subjective, but Chrome for iOS offers a much cleaner interface than any other iOS browser. The icons are clean and simple, and navigation is smoother. Tabs are easy to manage, and you can even access tabs you have open on your laptop.

Since you're used to Chrome from using it on your laptop and tablet, the transition to using it on your iPhone feels seamless. While Safari's UI isn't necessarily bad, it's less intuitive than Chrome.

4. Chrome's Password Manager is Essential

If you rely heavily on accounts for both work and personal use, having a secure and reliable password manager is essential. With Chrome's password manager, you can store all your passwords securely across multiple devices, allowing you to access them not only on your iPhone, but also on your laptop and tablet.

While Safari offers integration with Apple's new Passwords app, it's quite limited for some people who use multiple operating systems.

You can't autofill saved passwords in Safari on Windows or Android devices because the browser isn't available on those platforms. The best you can do is view them via iCloud for Windows. Additionally, there's no way to view those saved passwords on an Android tablet, which is a huge inconvenience.

After using Android phones for years, many people love the personalized news and content recommendations that Google Discover offers. With Chrome for iOS, you can access Google Discover simply by opening a new tab.
