How to Fix “Your Bag Is Full” in Pokémon GO

“Your Bag Is Full” means your Pokémon GO item count has reached or exceeded the current storage limit, so a PokéStop cannot add all of its rewards. You can fix it by using needed items, deleting surplus low-priority items, or purchasing more item storage from the Shop.

Your storage limit appears in the Items screen. Capacity, upgrade size, and Shop pricing can change over time, so check the values displayed in your game rather than relying on an older fixed number.

Option 1: Use items you already need

The best way to create space is to use supplies for a real purpose. Heal injured Pokémon with Potions, revive fainted Pokémon, open eligible gifts, use evolution items when you are ready to evolve, and use Incense or other timed items only when you can benefit from their full duration.

Do not start unnecessary battles simply to consume healing items. Instead, review Pokémon that are already damaged after raids, Team GO Rocket battles, or Gym battles.

Option 2: Delete surplus items

If the bag is still full, remove items you can easily replace. What counts as “surplus” depends on how you play. A trainer who raids frequently may need more healing supplies, while a player focused on catching may want to keep more Poké Balls and Berries.

Open the Items list

From the map, tap the Poké Ball menu and open Items.

Choose an item carefully

Find an item with a quantity larger than you realistically use. Tap its trash icon. The game will ask how many units you want to discard.

Set the quantity and confirm

Increase or decrease the number, recheck the item name, and confirm only when you are certain. Deleting items is permanent, so leave a reserve instead of clearing an entire category.

What should you delete first?

Use this order as a decision guide, not a rigid rule:

• Easy-to-replace basics: remove a small number when nearby PokéStops make replacement simple.
• Excess lower-tier healing items: keep enough for normal play, especially if stronger versions already cover your needs.
• Berries above your usual demand: feed extras to friendly Gym defenders when practical, or discard only the surplus.
• Duplicate or situational items: keep resources tied to planned evolutions or events and remove only what you do not expect to use.

Avoid casually deleting premium, rare, event-limited, or difficult-to-replace items. Also check upcoming events before clearing supplies that may soon be useful.

Option 3: Buy a Bag Upgrade

Open the in-game Shop and select the item-storage or Bag Upgrade option. Review the displayed PokéCoin price and the amount of capacity added before confirming. This is useful for active players who repeatedly hit the limit even after sensible cleanup.

Upgrading is not a substitute for organization. A larger bag can fill again if you never review duplicate items, so combine extra capacity with occasional cleanup.

Why storage may still look full after cleanup

• The item count may need a moment to refresh; close and reopen the Items screen.
• Some rewards can place the bag slightly over its normal limit, but additional PokéStop items may remain blocked.
• You may have deleted fewer units than intended.
• A recently claimed reward may have filled the space again.

For a quick fix, delete a small amount of common, replaceable inventory. For a lasting fix, set rough limits for Poké Balls, healing supplies, and Berries based on how you actually play, then review the bag before a Community Day, trip, or long PokéStop session.
