To catch more Pokémon in Pokémon GO, play in safe areas with regular spawns and PokéStops, check the Nearby view, use event bonuses and improve the quality of each throw. The game does not guarantee a Fire-type near a stove or a Water-type in a bathroom; spawns depend on the game's map data, seasons, events, weather and other systems.

1. Find areas with useful game activity

Parks, pedestrian districts and public spaces with several PokéStops often provide a practical walking loop and a steady supply of items. Use the Nearby or Sightings section to see Pokémon associated with nearby locations, and stop in a safe place before checking the screen.

Some environments and weather conditions can influence spawns, but broad real-world themes are not exact rules. Never enter private property, approach water unsafely or visit a hazardous place because a Pokémon appears on the map.

Use events, Incense and Lure Modules

Community Days, Spotlight Hours and other events can feature particular species or types. Read the in-game event details because the times, locations and bonuses vary.

Incense attracts encounters to the Trainer for a limited period, while a Lure Module attracts Pokémon around a PokéStop for nearby players. Movement and the specific item or event can affect what appears.

2. Improve your catch technique

During an encounter, choose a Poké Ball suited to the target and wait for a manageable aiming circle. Nice, Great and Excellent throws award increasing catch and XP benefits when they land correctly. Curveballs also improve catch odds and provide an XP bonus.
