Prevent Microsoft Edge from tracking you on webcam and microphone
When accessing any website on the Edge browser, you often get personal information requests, location access, send notifications or access the camera or microphone. In addition to video chat websites, you probably never want other websites to access your personal information.
Fortunately, Windows allows you to revoke the rights to use the camera and microphone from websites in the Edge browser. If you've accidentally accepted requests to access sensitive information or simply don't want these requests to work, you can easily disable them.
- First, you need to open Edge and click on the three dots menu icon at the top right.
- Click Settings, then scroll down and select Advanced Settings.
- In the Notifications header, click Manage and you will see a list of websites that you have enabled notifications. Adjust the slider to disable them.
Turn off location access, microphone and camera completely for all sites in Edge
Open the Settings menu in Windows 10. Select the Privacy item , then select the type of permission you want to deny in the left bar: Location, Microphone or Camera.
In the Choose apps that can use your . section , adjust the slider to turn off in Microsoft Edge. Now, you won't have to worry about web pages asking anymore.
Note: You need to consider carefully when turning off these permissions. For example, when you block camera access, video conferencing sites will operate inconveniently.
