Notes cannot be ignored when asking for help from others
Thanks to others - easy thinking is not easy, especially when you need support from your colleagues. Because of the harsh business environment, many people are always in a state of "defense", protecting ideas, time, and "gray matter" and most of all, they are afraid of being affected.
So how can other people be happy to help you even if they can get busy? Business expert Jon Westenberg will share with you interesting tips.
I have received many emails asking for help. They are writers, entrepreneurs and creators - people who are struggling at work and need advice.
I remember when I first went to work, I didn't know what I had to do, and almost all day in the office felt lost. So, I understand the situation of those who have emailed me and I am willing to do anything to help them.
The problem is, many emails make me very confusing.
They asked for help but the content was very vague and I didn't understand what they wanted me to do. For example, someone asked, "I want to do business, so what should I do?" This is a very broad question with countless possibilities and I have no information about this person to give appropriate advice.
I thought a lot about how people ask for help and it is clear that when they do not know what they are asking for, they will not know whether they will get what they want.
The important thing here is that you need to think about how to ask for help, how to express it clearly, and the question you are looking for to answer is very carefully before deciding to send it to someone. there.
You can apply the following principles in many situations to achieve the highest communication efficiency and work efficiency. I encourage you to ask as soon as you need , but it's best to ask the right questions.
Ask the right person for the right job
You will not find the right answer if you ask the wrong person. For example, if you ask a politician about the experience of running a startup, you will receive encouragement to pursue your dream instead of how to work with 5 employees.
When you have a problem, the first thing you should think about is who can help you. The next is to review the issue to ask questions.
Prepare 3 questions
When asking someone for help, I always have 1 to 3 good questions to get started. The important thing is that I want to learn something from the person I will approach. At the same time, think carefully about them before deciding to send them.
Also, no one wants to receive an "Hello, I can ask you this ." message so they will have to answer "Sure ." and wait for the question to continue . and answer it . Too many emails are sent and sent. Frustrating!
Nobody likes that kind of front fence. This takes both of them time. If you prepare a brief and clear content, it will be much more effective.
Be concise and detailed
No one wants to answer open questions, vague content or too many different aspects that make them think back and forth before answering. When asking questions, I tried to record briefly all the information needed in a single email so that the reader could easily flip through the entire content. I also give each question 3 bullet points to list the relevant information.
Let the reader understand the content you want to ask them for advice quickly and not take too much time thinking about the answer. Don't make them sort or try to "decode" the hidden message after each of your words.
Learn before asking
A lot of people have asked me the same question. I also like writing and sharing so there are many articles on many different topics that anyone can easily search on the internet. And if you're looking for it, within a few minutes you've got the answer to solve the problem.
Find it on the Internet to see if anyone has ever had a problem or problem. Doing this will save you a lot of time, understand the problem you are having and know better, you will find a more suitable person to ask for help.
Remind me politely
Sometimes people are asked too busy and cannot answer your questions immediately. This situation can sometimes make you angry and hurt. However, you also need to understand and understand that solving personal problems is your own and not someone else's, and you are not ignored, but simply your colleagues haven't had time.
After a few days of waiting, if you have not seen a response, please send a reminder as politely as possible.
Behave politely and calmly. No one wants to be a tool.
