Instagram's New Feature Helps You Find College Friends Quickly

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that lets you add your school or college to your profile to find friends and other classmates from the same school. It will let users filter by who went to the same school, and even let them sort by year for faster searching.

Currently only available to students in the US, the feature allows you to add your school to your profile as a banner and connect with other verified students via the UNiDAYS verification platform.

To 'Add School' to an Instagram account, users will need to complete verification through the UNiDAYS verification platform. Once completed, you will be able to see your school banner on your profile.

However, there are two sides to this new college-focused Instagram feature. It can help new students make friends at their school or find old classmates. But it can also be used for nefarious purposes. So if you're planning on adding your school to your profile, it's best to understand both sides of this new feature.
