Microsoft officially launched a new Edge browser for global users
The new Edge browser is developed by Microsoft based on the Chromium kernel to compete with Google's Chrome.
Microsoft recently announced that it has started rolling out the new Edge browser to global users through Windows Update. The new Edge was launched in January 2020, but users must download it themselves if they want to use it. However, with automatic installation through Windows Update, this new browser will soon be available on over 1 billion Windows 10 devices.
According to Microsoft's announcement, the new Edge will automatically be installed on Windows 10 version 1803 and above via Windows Update. However, not all Windows 10 users simultaneously have the new Edge installed. Depending on the region, depending on the version of Windows 10 ., some users will have to wait for the new Edge longer than others.
The new Microsoft Edge is receiving a lot of positive feedback from users
In recent months, Microsoft has continuously made improvements on the new Edge to compete with Google's Chrome. Currently the new Edge has the ability to sync extensions. However, the browser history and open tabs still can't sync on the new Edge. Microsoft promises that the synchronization features will be fully updated this summer.
In the coming months, Microsoft plans to launch a few new features, such as a vertical display browser tab, a new search bar on the side, and Pinterest integration. Microsoft is also working with Google to improve the spell checking tool and experience scrolling pages on the new Edge.
