Microsoft Edge Chromium update begins with Windows Update

Microsoft is starting to roll out updates to the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge through Windows Update. This update will be available to Windows 10 users on builds 1803, 1809, 1903, and 1909.

Microsoft launched the new Edge browser in January and to install it, users still have to download it from the website. Edge Chromium is highly appreciated by the community with its friendly, high-speed interface and offers the same familiarity as traditional Google Chrome.

Microsoft Edge is updated through Windows Update, which means that older versions of Edge will be replaced. Don't worry though, the new Edge will combine the strengths of the old Edge and the popular Chromium core.

You should be able to install Chrome add-ons for Edge but still enjoy the speed & benefits of being a browser-based browser. Old Edge also has very cool features like vertical tabs, reading mode, search bar and more.

If you're ready to switch from Chrome to Edge Chromium, ok, just switch because they don't make much of a difference. It's just like you install a new theme for Chrome. The only thing you will find missing is Google's syncing capabilities (like history, bookmarks, etc.) like on regular Chromium kernel browsers.

If you don't want to be 'forced' to use the new Edge, you can download it manually here.
