Galaxy S8 makes people quickly forget what happened to Note 7. Design, screen, great camera, smooth operation brings it to the top in Android phones. Other phones can beat the S8 at some point, but if you need an Android with the best overall score then it's Galaxy S8.
In August, Samsung released the true successor of Note 7, Galaxy Note 8. As with the S8, the Note 8 proved to be a great device. Instead of trying to serve people who buy smartphones, Samsung gives Note 8 things that make Note's true definition: big, expensive and nothing to blame. Note 8 also has a dual camera system that allows portraits like iPhone models.
The Note must be big
Samsung's biggest mistake this year has nothing to do with the hardware products, but the Bixby virtual assistant, first introduced on the S8 and featured in Note 8. Samsung believes in Bixby very much. so much so that it gives a button next to the phone just to open Bixby. Unfortunately, Bixby is no more useful than Google Assistant (which is also available on Samsung phones). Finally, they added a feature to disable this button on the phone, but still couldn't reprogram it to make it more useful.
Besides phones, Samsung's PC and TV array efforts are less noticeable. They are still promoting QLED technology, which is still worse than LG's OLED TV.
Although the products have a very good position this year, but not as a company. Vice President of Samsung Electronics and also the head of the whole group, Jay Y. Lee is involved in political scandals involving the Korean president.
He was detained for one year and sentenced to five years in prison but is still planning to appeal. There are also four other Samsung officials who have been accused of bribing President Park and those involved in her.
The scandal did not affect Samsung's finances when it still reported profits in the third quarter of the year. In addition, they also welcomed new leaders who deserved the company in 2018.
Currently, the tech community is waiting for the rumored Galaxy S9 to be released in February next year, so Samsung fans probably won't have to wait long.
