Latest Chrome update causes Full Disk status, even on SSDs
After the latest update 95.0.4638.54 was released on October 19, some PC and laptop users have reflected on their device's performance or experiencing Full Disk status despite using SSD.
Specifically, users said that recently, their PCs and laptops have suddenly operated slowly for unknown reasons despite insignificant CPU and RAM usage. They believe that the cause is either an outdated system or a damaged SSD. However, the performance problem is worse during Chrome web browsing. This also caused many users to wonder and start checking.
Some users have tested to see if their PC or laptop slows down when using other browsers like Firefox and Edge, which are based on Chromium. The results showed that these browsers ran smoothly and the performance problems disappeared when Chrome was no longer used.
When Chrome works, using Windows only for basic tasks is also very slow compared to when using other browsers.
An Intel X25-M SSD user tested and discovered that, when using Chrome, the browser pushed the SSD usage up to 100%, causing the aforementioned Full Disk phenomenon. . Meanwhile, Microsoft's Edge browser and Firefox only increased SSD usage by 2-10%.
Thus, it can be concluded that the culprit causing the Full Disk status is the latest update of Google Chrome, not the Windows 11 upgrade.
If your PC or laptop has the same problem when using Chrome, you should check if using another browser fixes the problem.
