Detailed instructions
1. Remove text from a low-detail image using Photoshop.
For example, take the image below; it has a simple background with few details, and the text is also written on a simple background.
Step 1:
In the Photoshop interface, right-click on the dashed square icon and select Rectangular Marquee Tool , or press the M shortcut key to open the selection tool.
Step 2:
Next, left-click and select the text area, then circle it on the image.
Step 3:
Click on the Edit tab in the toolbar and then select Fill , or you can press the shortcut Shift + F5 to open the Content Aware tool.
Step 4:
In the new interface, click on Content-Aware under Contents.
In the Blending section, set the Mode to Normal and the Opacity to 100%. Then click OK to proceed with removing the text from the image.
The result will be an image with the text removed, as shown below. The image will not be blurred or discolored when the text is removed.
2. Removing detailed background text from an image in Photoshop
For images with a lot of detail, removing text will be relatively manual and require more steps. We won't use simple tools like the ones above. If we do that, the image will become blurry, lose its aesthetic appeal, and appear less professional.
For example, we will delete the image with inserted text as shown below.
Step 1:
On the toolbar, click the Magic Wand Tool icon or use the shortcut key W to select text within the image.
Step 2:
Users need to press Shift and then click the tool on each letter in the image . You need to hold down the Shift key until you have selected each letter. Note that when selecting letters, you need to select enough strokes for each letter.
Step 3:
Next, click on Edit , then select Fill , and finally choose Content-Aware to delete the text.
Step 4:
When you press OK, the text will essentially be deleted, leaving only faint red outlines as shown below.
Continue clicking the Rectangular Marquee Tool (square icon) to select the faint text in the image for deletion. After selecting the area, click Edit , choose Fill, and then select the Content-Aware tool to remove the faint text.
If you want to remove a large blurry area from an image, you should select smaller areas and remove them gradually to prevent the image from becoming blurry.
The resulting image after removing the text will look like this.
Some tips for removing text from images.
Here are some tips that TipsMake.com wants to share with you so you can avoid some common mistakes during the process:
- To select text extremely quickly, use the 'Select Subject' function , available in the latest version of Photoshop;
- You may need to expand your text selection to ensure there are no imperfections around the text edges – go to the top menu Select > Modify > Expand to expand the selection by the desired number of pixels.
To remove text from an image using Photoshop, we basically use the Content-Aware tool. However, if the image has a simple background with little detail, this tool can be used directly. But if the image has a lot of detail, the user must select each stroke of the text before removing it.
Good luck with your project!
