Change IP address

Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu will drop down.

Click System Preferences . This option is below the "About This Mac" heading.

Click Network . This option is to the right of "iCloud" in the third row.

Click the network you're using in the left sidebar. For example, if you are using a Wi-Fi connection then click 'Wi-Fi'.

Click Advanced . This option is in the lower right corner of the window.

Click the TCP/IP tab. This option is at the top of the window, in the same row as the DNS , WINS , 802.1X , Proxies , and Hardware tabs .

Click the drop-down menu next to 'Configure IPv4' and select 'Manually '.

Or you can click 'Renew DHCP Lease' to have your computer generate a new IP address.

Enter the desired IP address in the 'IPv4 Address ' field. You can reuse your current IP address, just change the number in the last part. For example, if the current IP address is "10.0.1.8", the new address can be changed to "10.0.1.129" or similar.

Click OK then select Apply . The IP address will be changed.

Use a proxy server

Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu will drop down.

Since the proxy server is another temporary network that we need to connect to the Internet, you can apply this method if the current network is not working, .

Click System Preferences . This option is below the "About This Mac" heading.

Click Network . This option is to the right of "iCloud" in the third row.

Click the network you're using in the left sidebar. For example, if you are using a Wi-Fi connection then click 'Wi-Fi'.

Click Advanced . This option is in the lower right corner of the window.

Click the Proxies tab. This option is at the top of the window, in the same row as the DNS , WINS , 802.1X , TCP/IP , and Hardware tabs .

Click to select the protocol under the 'Select a protocol to configure ' heading.

Select 'SOCKS Proxy' if you are not sure which protocol to use. The 'SOCKS Proxy' protocol is commonly used to route network packets between clients and servers through a proxy. This option is very effective in enhancing general security and hiding the client addresses of applications.

Web protocol (HTTP) and secure web protocol (HTTPS) are also widely used but are less secure than SOCKS Proxy.

Enter the IP address of the desired proxy server in the blank data field.

If you use a SOCKS proxy, you need to go to the SOCKS proxy list at http://sockslist.net/ to select a category 4 or 5 IP address.

Click OK then select Apply . So you will connect to the specified proxy server.

Disconnect the router/modem

Disconnect the router or modem. Sometimes the router and modem are combined 2 in 1 so we only need to disconnect one device. If the router and modem are two separate devices, you can unplug both to reset the IP address.

Wait a few seconds to a few minutes. Most home networks use dynamic IP addresses. This means that your network service provider will assign you a new IP address every time the router or modem reconnects to the network.

Reconnect the router. Wait for the router to reconnect to the network.

Check the new IP address. You can see it in the "Network" section of "System Preferences."

If it still doesn't work, unplug the modem again and try again in a few hours.
