How to add text with GIMP
GIMP is an open source photo editing software program available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. It includes three windows: Toolbox, Image and Dock. Users can use GIMP to create an image that includes only text or add text to other images. Users can specify the type and size of the font as well as the color of the text. Users will add text to the image as a separate layer, which can then be manipulated like any other image layer.
1. Open GIMP photo editing software.
2. Simultaneously press the "Ctrl" and "N" keys to open the new image template (New Image). Or, press the "Ctrl" and "O" keys simultaneously to open an existing image.
3. Click the "A" button in the Toolbox window . This is the button to enter text.
4. Select the desired font, size and color for the text, among the options that appear at the bottom of the Toolbox window .
5. Click where you want the text to appear in the Image window .
6. Enter text in the text area of the GIMP Text Editor dialog window. Text will appear in the image when the user types letters.
7. Click the "Close" button at the bottom of the Text Editor window , after finishing adding text.
8. Simultaneously press the "Ctrl" and "S" keys to save the changes to the image.
