Half a meter long mouse that can bite the coconut for the first time was discovered after 80 years

Uromys vika, one of the largest rats in the world, half a meter long and 1 kilogram in weight, was discovered by scientists in kapuchu on Vangunu Island.

The mice found 47cm long from the nose to the tail, had brown fur, wide hind feet, and curved claws. Its tail is hairless and long across the body. This giant rat lives at about 10m high on the trees in Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, Long Room and is very hard to find.

This is the first Uromys vika rat found in the last 80 years in the Solomons Islands. Unfortunately this mouse died after a short time was found.

The islanders often circulate the story of a giant rat that can separate coconut shells. Although the authenticity of the story has not been confirmed, there is evidence that the mouse can bite small circular holes on a very thick shelled fruit called ngali and go inside.
