The monkey belongs to the Tonkean long-tailed monkey, called Evalyne, and lives in the Parco reserve Faunistico di Piano dell'Abatino. Monkey Tonkea never eat cannibalism, and even they are "vegetarian" species.

This is the first time monkey Evalyne has been a mother. Unfortunately, his child was unable to survive after 4 days of birth.

Researcher Arianna De Marco tried to observe Evalyne's behavior after her child died. On the 22nd day, the corpse of the baby monkey was completely decayed, but Evalyne still kept a part of her body in her hand, or in her mouth.

Marco saw the last of the monkey's body on the 25th day, when it had only a leg bone or arm bone.

Currently, De Marco and other researchers do not know what caused the mother monkey to behave so strangely.

However, De Marco thinks that the cause may stem from the fact that the monkey has lived a few days before his death. Although there were only four short days, that time was enough to create a strong bond of maternal love.
