Google launches a new messaging application similar to iMessage to replace SMS
Google has just launched a new messaging service called Chat, to replace traditional SMS messaging software on Android smartphones. Google's new service is considered to have many similarities with iMessage on Apple's iPhone.
Android users can use Google Chat to chat, send data (images, high-quality videos) via Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity.
Sanaz Ahari, Google Product Manager, said their goal is to help all Android users around the world get a modern, convenient messaging experience that is independent of the device or the network.
Chat is built into the Messaging application (Messages) and when you want to use the user just open the application. Similar to iMessage, the conversation will automatically switch to the new platform if both machines support Chat, otherwise it will return to SMS format.
Google chat works based on RCS (Rich Communication Services) platform. RCS was born in 2007 with the aim of replacing SMS but unfortunately it was not accepted by many technology companies. The difference between RCS and iMessage, WhatsApp or Signal is that it does not provide end-to-end encryption, so the content sent and received from users is still displayed on the server of Google and the company can view it anytime. Come on.
As expected, from the end of this June, Google will deploy Chat application for Android smartphone users in England and France first, then launch other markets this year.
In the past, Google has also launched many messaging applications, such as Hangouts, Allo, Duo, Android Messages . but there are no applications that can be as successful as Apple's iMessage.
