Google has purchased mobile GIF keyboards and search engine Tenor for Android, iOS and desktop computers to make it easier for users to find and share GIF images, the company said.
"Most people use Google Images to find more information on a topic and to help them communicate, but the truth is we see millions of GIFs searching every day," Cathy Edwards, Technical Director Google Images wrote in a notice.

Tenor will help Google make this more effective in Google Images as well as other products using GIFs like Gboard.
Tenor will continue to operate as a private brand and Google "wants to invest in technology and promote their relationships with its content and API platform partners".
According to The Verge, Facebook has used Tenor in Messenger to help millions of users easily share GIFs on the platform.
