Create Data Tables at Lightning Speed in NotebookLM

NotebookLM has recently launched its Data Tables feature, which helps you organize and analyze information from your sources in a structured format, then quickly export it to Google Sheets. Users simply need to enter commands specifying the target audience, purpose, and content of the information to be displayed in the table. NotebookLM will then generate a detailed information table for the user. Below is a guide on creating tables in NotebookLM.

Instructions on Creating Data Tables in NotebookLM

Step 1:

We prepare the information we want to convert to a table, then in NotebookLM you create a new note. Choose the data source ; in this example, we will use text copied into NotebookLM.

Step 2:

At this point, you will see a summary of the information we uploaded.

Look to the side and tap the pen icon in the Data Sheet feature to proceed with editing and creating.

We will enter the command to create the table, specifying the programming language, the purpose of creating the table, and the table viewers (if any), then click the Create button below.

Depending on the content you provide and the purpose of creating the table in NotebookLM, we need to modify the command accordingly.

Step 3:

Wait a few minutes for NotebookLM to convert the content into a table as requested. The result is a data table created in NotebookLM as shown in the image; click on it to view the content.

Click the three-dot icon and select Export to Sheets to open it in Google Sheets. In Sheets, you can edit it to your liking to get the complete data table.

Additionally, when you click on a worksheet, you can also change the name of the data table or delete its content if you wish.
