Compare Firefox 64 bit and 32 bit performance
Over the past decade, Mozilla Firefox has been built and developed and loved by many users. There are many reasons for Firefox to eat Chrome or Internet Explorer.
Irefox has tabbed browsing, spell checking, keyword search, live bookmarking, download manager, and an integrated search system that uses the set User-customized search engine. Many functions can be added to the browser via add-on created by the third developer, some of the most popular utilities include NoScript JavaScript shortcut utility, Tab Mix Plus customizer, Adblock Plus , StumbleUpon (website discovery), Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer (bookmark bookmarking) .
Mozilla Firefox has developed two versions: Mozilla Firefox 32bit and Mozilla Firefox 64bit . Basically, the 32bit and 64bit interfaces are not much different, just different in terms of performance. For more information, please refer to the following article of Network Administrator.
To run benchmarks on each browser installed and updated on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit . The hardware is an AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU @ 3.2GHz with 4GB 1333MHz memory and HDD 7200RPM . We tested Firefox 42.0 32-bi, Firefox42.0 64-bit, Firefox Nightly 45.0a1 64-bit and WATERFOX 40.1.0, all of their default settings.
1. JetStream
Jetstream is the Webkit browser browser and the SunSpider legacy tool. Jetstream has a range of Javascript criteria lists including workloads and scenarios, including testing sections for Octane 2.0 and SunSpider . Each test section runs 3 times and gives an average score.
2. Kraken
Kraken was developed by Mozilla itself , but this test needs to have more time to complete each test and give the total score in a few milliseconds, the lower the score means the better the performance.
3. Peacekeeper
Peacekeeper is a provider of well-known testing tools such as 3DMark, PCMark . Peacekeeper is a Benchmark test for browsers created by Futuremark. This is a tool to check and evaluate DOM process , HTML5 , text and drawing analysis. Peacekeeper is no longer supported by Futuremark as before, but the tool still works.
4. Octane 2.0
Octane is a Javascript test tool developed by Google to replace popular tools like V8 benchmark (including 9 test sections) and 4 other tools.
5. BrowserMark
BrowserMark suites test a number of sections including resizing the browser, loading pages and requiring page loading speed, Javascript performance and DOM checking , CSS and graphics speed. BrowserMark will automatically select the server nearest you, or you can choose a different area if you want.
6. RoboHornet
RoboHornet is a relatively new benchmark test tool. You can check and evaluate tables, DOM, CSS, Canvas, Scrolling and Javascript.
7. Dromaeo
This is a test suite produced by Mozilla , in addition to SunSpider and V8 . Each Benchmark runs at least 5 times, thus explaining why the entire process takes about 15 minutes to complete.
8. Open 1 tab Memory Usage (use memory)
How to check this memory is quite simple, open Firefox and delete Standard at the top of the page, after about 10 seconds to make everything stable, the memory used in the Firefox.exe process will be read in Task Manager .
Note: Firefox Nightly is not beneficial in memory tests because it has an additional plugin-container.exe which increases and decreases Memory Usage ( memory usage ) like changing the number of tabs.
9. Open 5 Memory Usage tabs (memory usage)
This test is quite simple, you just need to visit the Raymond.cc homepage and open 5 tabs, after a few seconds Memory Usage of Firefox will be recorded.
10. Open 25 tabs Memory Usage (memory usage)
Similar to the above tests, you open 25 tabs at once.
11. Start Time application
How long will it take to calculate Firefox or Waterfox for the first time after restarting (cold start: cold start).
12. Evaluation results
As a result of all 11 tests, Firefox 32 versions are rated better than 8 out of 11 tests. Results Memory Usage ( memory usage ) is also better.
Basically, the interface of Firefox 64bit and 32bit has no difference. The biggest difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions is the performance, when Firefox 64bit opens many tabs but doesn't consume a lot of system resources and doesn't affect the overall performance of the system. Firefox 64bit also exploits more than 4GB of RAM , allowing more efficient memory usage
