Coming to Windows 95 operating system, Microsoft as a breakthrough in building a graphical interface for users. This operating system was released on April 24, 1995. The code name used was Chicago.
Windows 96
This version has never been released, it only updates Internet Explorer 4.0 to Windows. CodeName is Nashville.
Windows 98
On June 25, 1998, the Windows 98 operating system was released. And with codename new Memphis, it was seen as a 'clue' to trigger the phenomenon of easter eggs in programs.
Windows 2000
This is considered a stepping stone to the success of the next Windows XP operating system. Windows 2000 was released on January 17, 2000 with CodeName as Odyssey.
Windows ME
ME is the abbreviation for the word Millenium Edition. This version was released on September 14, 2000. Internet Explorer version was integrated into version 5.5. CodeName of Windows ME is Georgia.
Windows XP
Following the success of developing Windows 2000 and Windows ME versions, Microsoft released a new version of the operating system with many outstanding improvements, especially graphics features. On October 25, 2001, the first version of Windows XP was released with Whistler CodeName, and until SP1, CodeName was changed to Trainyard and Springboard for SP2.
Windows Media Center Edition, 2003, 2004, 2005
In order to meet and promote media applications, Microsoft developed the first version of Windows Media Center Edition in 2003 with CodeName Codename: eHome. Next is Freestyle, the 2004 version of CodeName is Harmony and 2005 is Symphony.
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
As a shortened version of Windows XP, this version has CodeName Lone Star.
Windows Server 2003, Small business server, Home server, Windows Server 2008
Take on the operating system tasks for managers. Windows Server versions in turn have the following CodeName: 2003: Whistler Server, Small business server: Bobcat, Home Server: Q, Quattro and Windows Server 2008 are Longhorn Server.
Windows Vista
Considered a new revolution in the interface that Microsoft has given users. Windows Vista was released on January 30, 2007 with CodeName Longhorn.
Windows 7
As promised, on October 22, 2009, Microsoft will officially release the official version of the "soft" Windows 7 operating system. This operating system used to have a lot of different codename like Blackcomb, Vienna. and in 2007 it was coded as Windows 7, so it became the first name for a product produced by Microsoft.
