Windows 11 will let you add and customize widgets
Earlier this week, the first build of Windows 11 leaked on the internet and gave us a first look at the upcoming version of Microsoft's operating system. Besides overhauling the interface, Windows 10 also brings back a feature that has been long forgotten by Microsoft.
You can see that between File Explorer and TaskView is the option to display widgets. If you have ever used Windows 7 then you will not feel strange with widgets. Initially, widgets on Windows 11 will just be the News and Interests feature that Microsoft has just launched for Windows 10.
However, according to Walking Cat - a source specializing in leaks of Microsoft's internal information - the software giant plans to add support for third-party widgets. Moreover, users can also customize the widget menu to their liking. Even so, Windows 11 will initially only support Microsoft's own widgets.
Developer Rafael Rivera confirmed that Windows 11 did not initially support third-party widgets. Rivera said he did not find third-party widget-related APIs in the leaked build of Windows 11.
Microsoft has scheduled the launch of Windows 11 on June 24. In essence, it can be said that Windows 11 is a fusion of Windows 10 and Windows 10X and brings a number of improvements in performance and experience.
