Microsoft confirms Windows 11 users will soon be able to delete news items in the widget menu
Microsoft has introduced a brand new widget menu in Windows 11, providing Fast facts on weather forecasts, stock prices, sports scores, news and more.
However, most Windows 11 people have expressed the opinion (via Feedback Hub) that the biggest problem with Windows Widget is the inability to turn off the built-in MSN News news feed, which is supposed to normally display content. controversial or even malicious content. Others argue that Microsoft should allow users to place widgets directly on the desktop, similar to Windows 7.
As a recent report revealed, Microsoft is considering allowing widgets to be placed on the desktop, and today, at Build 2023, the company announced that users will soon be able to remove the news feed from Windows. Widgets.
Specifically during the Windows 11-specific keynote on the Build 2023 stage, Microsoft revealed its plans to allow users to switch between different Windows Widget modes. Later this year, Windows 11 will receive an update that comes with three different widget views:
- Widgets only, no feeds
- Only feeds without twidgets
- Combine the two (current version).
In addition, with support for third-party widgets on Windows 11, users will receive notifications indicating which specific applications can come with widgets.
Microsoft has not revealed exactly when the new widget view will be rolled out to Windows 11 users. However, any changes will be rolled out in advance under the Windows Insider program, that's for sure.
