What's Coming to Threads
Threads was officially available for download last week, and the application has only been "born" for a few days. But it has reached a large number of users only and all Threads users are looking forward to Meta adding more features to Threads.
Although Threads has undergone a launch that costs a lot of "paper and ink" of the media and has up to 70 million users. But Threads' popularity is certainly not due to the fact that the application has many attractive features for users.
Although users have experienced the core and distinctive features of Threads. But it's clear that it still lacks a lot of things when compared to other current social networking applications. So surely users will want to upgrade and developers will also want to "stuff" new features in. Here's what Instagram says is coming to Threads in the near future.
The chronological feed only shows content from the users you're following.
One of the things users complained a lot about Threads at launch was that the only feed on Threads was a feed that used an algorithm to guess what you wanted to see. Although this will be useful for new users as it will show many famous accounts or already have a lot of followers on Instagram. But from time to time, you inevitably only want to see posts from the accounts you're following.
However, users will no longer have to worry as Instagram head Adam Mosseri has confirmed that the company will include the correct feed in the app. He also points to the fact that both Facebook and Instagram have similar feeds, although they are not visible or most obvious on those apps.
If this is done in the future, users will be able to see what they really want as well as only the people they already follow.
Delete Threads without deleting your Instagram account
Threads are quite convenient because when you sign up, the accounts that you have followed on Instagram along with your profile will be quickly imported to Threads. This makes the process of creating an account and re-following the accounts you already have on Instagram easier when you first start Threads.
However, connecting to Instagram also creates a drawback that if you delete your Threads account, you will also delete your Instagram account. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri says that this will be the result of using Instagram's "technology stack" to build Threads. But the company is working on a way for you to completely delete your Threads account without any further involvement with your Instagram account.
Although the company says you can disable your Threads account without affecting Instagram. But users will want to have the freedom to delete one account without affecting the other. While there's no official date on when this feature will launch, we hope it will soon, as it's one of the features many Threads users are most looking forward to.
Edit post
Almost all social networks present on the "market" currently have a post editing feature. Although Threads' direct rival - Twitter has previously locked this feature to those and only those using the paid Twitter Blue plan can use it. But Threads does not have this feature, even if it is added to a paid plan.
Meta is intending to change this, in response to a user request to update this feature. Adam Mosseri said he will add this feature to the list of features that are upgraded, but he also said when it will be updated. It's also unclear how it will work and whether Meta will add it to a paid plan like Twitter Blue.
Tags Tag #
One of the notable things missing from Threads at launch, especially compared to Twitter, is the Hashtag. This is a feature that helps people find users and chats around certain topics. The lack of tags on Threads surprised many people.
And Adam Mosseri also said that adding support for # tags is 'in the feature list', but there's no exact date on when it was updated.
While some people may want tags to appear in Threads, there are some people who also want them not to appear in Threads. Tech YouTuber Justine Ezarik says that Threads users should use a feature from Instagram Reels that allows users to select up to three tags a post is related to, which would be a cleaner tag implementation.
Maybe the Hashtag is beneficial, but if it shows up on Threads there will also be a lot of people spamming it. Typically, on Twitter, there are many cases of this. It can be frustrating if you start typing in tags and have to find your post after a bunch of unrelated content, or you have to type in the correct hashtag to find the topic you're looking for.
Using multiple Threads accounts at the same time
Twitter, Instagram and other social networks all have the ability to switch multiple accounts at once without having to log out. Threads doesn't have this feature yet.
If you have multiple Threads accounts, you'll have to switch Threads accounts by first disabling your Threads account, and then switching to the Instagram account you want to sign in to on Threads. Similar to the features above, Mosseri said it will be available on Threads soon, but he also did not say when it will be updated for users.
Some other features
Although Instagram has not specified when or why they will add features in the near future if below. But Mosseri did post that there will be more features the company is considering to upgrade to Threads in the future.
According to Mosseri, features like 'search…chart sync…message' are all on the list for the development team to deploy in the future. Although search technically exists on the app, you can only use it to search for accounts, so Mosseri is likely referring to the ability to search for other content like services, features, other search topics. The ability to translate posts into different languages is also being worked on by the team.
Please wait patiently, because a new application like Threads still needs time to complete to be fully functional like other social networks.
