The Edge browser starts automatically when it powers on: Microsoft says this is a non-feature error
Recently, Windows 10 users have discovered a problem related to Edge browser with Chromium kernel which Microsoft has just released. Specifically, the Microsoft Edge browser has started automatically after the user has turned on. Immediately, a conspiracy theory emerged that this was a feature that Microsoft intentionally installed to entice users to use the new Edge.
Microsoft quickly denied the conspiracy theory. The software giant shared that this was a bug, not a feature. Microsoft technicians are currently investigating the cause of this problem. Users can assist, speeding up the process of finding the cause by sending Microsoft crash reports.
The Edge browser starts automatically as soon as the user opens the device"We have received reports from users that some versions of Microsoft Edge launch automatically whenever users open the computer. This error occurs regardless of what the user selects in edge: // settings / onStartup. We are looking for the cause and if you have this problem please let us know , " Microsoft wrote.
While waiting for Microsoft to find the cause and fix. You can solve this problem by:
- Right-click on the Task Bar
- Select Task Manager
- Select the Startup tab and check all the items on this tab
- If there is a Microsoft Edge item , uncheck or right-click and then select Disable
The new Microsoft Edge uses the Chromium core which allows Microsoft to distribute it to a variety of platforms. Besides Windows 10, this browser also has versions for old Windows, non-Windows operating systems, and mobile devices running Android, iOS.
Currently, Microsoft still doesn't know if this error affects other versions of Windows. However, versions of Edge that are not for Windows do not suffer from this error.
