Facebook takes advantage of the statuses, updates the New Feeds of 689,000 users to find a way to 'manipulate' user emotions.
According to a research report published by Proceedings of the National Academy of Science ( PNAS ), Facebook conducted secret research on its nearly 700,000 users since 2012 ( when Facebook hasn't set up privacy yet , taking advantage of users' statuses and updates to manipulate their emotions.
Accordingly, 689,000 users are tracked emotionally through new news from New Feeds . Facebook uses software to determine the positive and negative in status updates and split users' posts into two categories. After that, Facebook changed users' sources to highlight the articles seen on the News Feed of people who were tracked positively or negatively, tracking " responses ", to see if they were affected. From those New Feeds or not, find evidence that emotions can spread even when users are not directly exposed on social networks, and the impact of virtual messages on users.
Experimental results show that people who receive positive status updates often post happy messages and vice versa, but this emotion only lasts for a few days. This is important evidence that social media can strongly impact the mental state of users.
Facebook claims they use machines for the entire experiment process, and no researchers actually see posts on users 'social networks, but users' privacy questions still go away. open?
