How to Change the Language for Individual Apps on iPhone

Learn how to assign a different language to an individual iPhone app without changing the system language, using the per-app settings available in iOS.

How to Change an Individual App's Language on iPhone

1. Open Language and Region Settings

Open Settings , tap General , and select Language & Region .

2. Add the Language You Want to Use

Tap Add Language , choose the language you want, and add it to the device. Keep the current system language as the primary language if you do not want the entire iPhone interface to change.

You can add more languages to the preferred-language list if you plan to use them with other apps.

3. Select the App

Return to the main Settings screen, scroll down, and tap the app whose language you want to change.

4. Choose the App Language

Tap Language , then select one of the supported languages. For example, you can assign a newly added language to Instagram without changing the language used by the rest of the iPhone.

Additional languages may appear when the app supports them.

Reopen the app to verify that its interface now uses the selected language.
