Log in and configure the Router
Zack Stern
In some previous articles, I have shown you some ways to configure the router, some readers have asked us how to login to a specific model. Indeed if you are responsible for the IT problem in your room, these are the basic steps for you to manage simple network tasks.
Since manufacturers often use the same default settings for all their products, this is a reminder that you need to change your SSID and reset your administrator password. Anyone who is involved in network problems can follow these instructions to enter their wireless network and you will use them to configure the router initially.
First, connect your computer to the router. This step can be done via Wi-Fi, especially if you reconfigure a router instead of starting with a new router. However, here we recommend using an Ethernet cable to limit other possible problems. Connect the cable between the computer and one of the router's LAN ports. (Turn on the Wi-Fi feature on your computer in case you use a wireless network).
The next step is completely the same for different routers, although the specifications are slightly different. Refer to your documents or search online for the default IP address for your router model. Typically, Linksys routers use IP address 192.168.1.1, D-Link is 192.168.0.1, Belkin is 192.168.2.1, and Netgear is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Please open the web browser and enter the address, such as " http://192.168.0.1 ".
Next you will be prompted for username and password. Here, you can look in your router's manual or search your router online. Netgear usually uses "admin" and "password". D-Link and Linksys often use "admin" and "admin", or use "admin" for one and one for blank values. Belkin also uses one "admin" and one blank.
If the router and computer are set up DHCP by default, as most of them are still doing so. When you enter the router's configuration page, change the default password (login password if possible). In addition, change the internal IP (LAN) address for the router. Select a certain IP such as "192.168.n.1", where n is a number between 2 and 254, such as "192.168.22.1". If you lose any of these details, then follow the instructions in the documentation to reset the router.
