Instructions for using AR road features on Google Maps
Google Maps has recently launched a new feature that allows users to have a new experience in driving directions by incorporating enhanced virtual reality technology (AR) and the phone's rear camera. Google Maps will show directions based on actual images at the user's location.
Specifically, when Google Maps has pinpointed the location of where the user is, the application will begin to compare and match the images collected on the camera with information available on Google's servers to provide Instruction arrow with location display name on the screen interface. Users only need to follow the directions arrows to reach the destination.
However, this AR-only feature is only used for walking and unusable options when driving. If you lower the phone in just a second, the AR mode will automatically turn off and return to the standard Google Maps interface.
