9 Reasons Google Maps is Better than Apple Maps

Many people are big fans of Apple and use a lot of its products. However, despite many improvements in recent years, there is one Apple tool that many people do not like: Apple Maps. It still lacks some basic features that Google Maps has had for years.

 

9. You can use Google Maps on your computer browser

Finding directions or suggestions in Google Maps is easy, even on a computer. You can access Maps, enter your destination address, or browse the area to find shops, restaurants, and more.

 

Aside from feeling more clunky, Apple Maps for desktop lacks many of the desktop features you'll find on Google Maps.

Street View is arguably Google Maps' most famous feature, and it's a special one indeed. It makes it easier than ever to navigate a new place, especially if you're planning a trip and want to get a feel for the area beforehand.

In my experience, Google Maps feels more accurate and pulls out cycling routes better. If you live in a city where cycling is popular, this will be important.

Google Maps allows users to easily save cafes, bakeries, tourist attractions, and more. While Apple Maps has a similar feature, it is less intuitive than Google Maps. Whenever needed, you can refer to the saved locations on Google Maps without any difficulty.

5. Wider coverage

Both Google Maps and Apple Maps have the disadvantage of not covering the entire world evenly, but that's understandable. However, Google Maps is much better than Apple Maps. You can count the number of cities where Apple Maps outperforms its competitor on one hand.

Google Maps has more coverage of places to eat and things to do, and people also trust the app more when it comes to whether they're open.

4. Google Maps is less slow

Built-in features aside, Google Maps is generally more enjoyable to use than Apple Maps. It's noticeably less sluggish than Apple Maps, both after Apple's recent update and in general use.

The web version of Google Maps also works better, although that's understandable given that Apple Maps is in beta. Fixing Google Maps when it's not working on Android (or any other device you might be using) is pretty simple.

While people love the Apple ecosystem for many reasons, it is frustrating that Apple Maps cannot be accessed on non-Apple devices. The only exception is the web version, which is not worth using anyway. Google Maps is much better when it comes to cross-device use.

Google Maps is available on Android smartphones and tablets, along with other operating systems you might use. Another great thing is that it works well on any device.

People use a variety of platforms to plan their flights, although they often book directly from the airline. However, it's nice to be able to plan your route without having to look at a second app. Google Maps offers this option.

In addition to offering more features, Google Maps also offers much more detailed maps. You can easily segment based on what you're looking for, such as pharmacies and ATMs. Google Maps colors help distinguish specific locations and many other types of data.

Apple Maps still has a long way to go before it can compete with Google Maps. With fewer features and a worse desktop app, and less cross-device usability than its competitors, it's hard to justify using it. For the most part, Google Maps will do what you need.
