How to view multiple applications and tab side by side on a Chromebook
Chromebooks are a great tool to complete tasks online and cloud-based. And one of the useful features of Chrome OS is the ability to split screens from different applications. Displaying multiple applications or tabs side by side on the same screen can help you increase productivity and get a better job done.
You may need to edit the spreadsheet on one side of the screen and view the source data on the other side. You can open an email or document while YouTube or another video application plays on the other side of the screen. Here's how to use screen splitting and split screen management.
Use screen split feature on Chromebook
Using the split screen feature or the parallel view on Chromebooks also works like on a Windows PC. There are several ways you can manage these split screens. First, we will look at the drag and drop method.
Launch the first application you want to display and simply drag its title bar to the left or right edge of the screen. An outline will appear to show where the screen is, then release the mouse or trackpad to move the app to a new location.
Then open the second application or tab and do the same, but drag it to the other side of the screen. For example, in the image below, Chrome is opened by Files application .
Another way you can manage the split screen is to click and hold the Maximize button until you see the arrow icons. After that, you can put the screen left or right.
The application will be moved to your chosen side and automatically fit into the screen. For the second application or window, do the same, but move it to the other side of the screen. The two application windows will be placed side by side, snugly on the original screen area.
The example has opened Chrome on the right of the screen and the Pluto TV app is on the left.
Note that this will work with many Android (but not all) Android apps and tabs in Chrome and many other Chrome OS apps. In addition to using a mouse or trackpad, you can do the same if you have a touch screen. Just press and hold the Maximize button , then select the left or right arrow. You can also use keyboard shortcuts Alt
+ ]
to move the window to the right or Alt
+ [
to move to the left of the screen on a Chromebook.
Hope you are succesful.
