How to use your phone to control Chromecast with Google TV
If you don't have a TV remote or want to use your phone, there are a few options for you here. The first, as mentioned above, "Chromecast with Google TV" is a Chromecast device. You can watch videos or listen to music from phone or tablet.
Google has an official Android TV control app for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. It has pretty basic controls, but there's an even better app than that. We will find out both together.
Google control app
First, download the Android control app to your device. When opening the app for the first time, press Accept & Continue to agree to the terms of the application.
Next, you need to allow access to the app's location to connect to "Chromecast with Google TV". Click Continue and allow permissions.
You will see a list of available devices. Click Chromecast with Google TV .
A code will show up on your TV screen. Type that code into the application and then select Pair .
The controller app will be connected immediately. You can press around the 4 arrow buttons and use the Back or Home button as a physical control. There is a keyboard icon in the right corner for entering text on the TV.
The volume keys on a phone or tablet can be used to adjust the TV volume when the app is open.
However, the touchpad on the menu will not work with "Chromecast with Google TV".
Control application "Remote Android TV"
Innovation lab's 'Remote Android TV' control app takes things to a whole new level, including the on / off button and volume rocker on the right side of the screen, which is only available on Android devices.
Download the "Remote Android TV" app from the Google Play Store. When you open the app for the first time, you'll need to allow the app to record audio. Click Allow to continue.
Next, select Chromecast with Google TV from the list of devices.
Enter that code into the application and press Pair .
It is done. You can use the 4 arrow buttons, the Back and Home buttons, increase or decrease the volume and enter text with the keyboard. Some buttons, such as "P +" and "P-" cannot be used with "Chromecast with Google TV".
The Touchpad and Applications tabs from the menu will not be supported by "Chromecast with Google TV".
