Unzipping In Mac OS
- Download an archive manager software. Head to Safari and enter this in the address bar on a new tab: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3489-unrarx-for-mac.html. Click on 'Download now' to get the installer.
- Head to your default Downloads folder and open up "UnRarX."
- Go to the directory that contains the desired archive, or ZIP, file.
- Drag your rar archive into the main window of UnRarX.
- The rar archive will then extracted to your file directory.
Method 2 of 2:
Unzipping In Windows
- Download the WinRAR archive manager. Enter this in the address field on your preferred web browser: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm.
- Select the version for your system. Under 'Latest English WinRAR and RAR beta versions,' select the version for your system type.
- To know which type you have (whether 32 bit or 64 bit), click on the Windows orb at the lower left of your desktop taskbar. Hover your mouse over My Computer, then right-click on it.
- Click 'Properties,' and under the System header, look at System Type and see if it's 32- or 64-bit.
- Install WinRAR. Once the installer has downloaded, install it by double-clicking on the EXE (.exe) file in your default Downloads folder.
- The installation wizard will guide you through the easy install process. Just keep hitting 'Next' if you want default settings.
- Head to the archive file you want to extract and double-click it. WinRAR should launch and display the contents of the archive.
- Extract the file. To extract the files, select all by clicking and dragging the selection box. Then drag-and-drop to a place you want to move the extracted files.
