Although Apple has been testing iOS 26 since June 2025 and taking feedback from users, not everyone wants to install and update their iPhones to the latest version of iOS 26. Here's how to disable automatic iOS 26 updates on iPhone.
Instructions to turn off automatic iOS 26 updates on iPhone
Step 1:
You access Settings on iPhone then select General Settings . Now the user clicks on Software Update to adjust.
Step 2:
Now you will see the Auto Update mode is enabled on the iPhone. Switch to the new interface, users need to turn off the Auto Install setting to block automatic iOS 26 updates on iPhone or later iOS versions.
Step 3:
Below is the Auto Download option to download the new version of iOS operating system. If you do not want to fill up the storage space, you can also turn off Auto Download.
Step 4:
In case you have downloaded iOS 26 to your iPhone but have not installed it, you can delete this iOS. Go back to the General Settings interface and tap on iPhone Storage. Then tap on iOS and delete the downloaded iOS system files.
